Anita Patel, BVM, DVD, FRCVS, has been working as a veterinary dermatology specialist since 2002.   She now concentrates on providing CPD in veterinary dermatology and as a consultant on complex dermatology cases to other veterinary practices.

She is one of only 25 UK specialists in veterinary dermatology recognised by the industry’s regulatory body, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).

Before she started specialising, Anita worked for 20 years as a small animal vet in general practice, including 15 years as a partner.

Anita gained her RCVS Diploma in Veterinary Dermatology in 2002, after a residency at the Royal Veterinary College’s Queen Mother Hospital. She qualified for the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Dermatology in 1993, and has been a member of the RCVS since 1982. She first studied veterinary medicine at Nairobi University.

As an acclaimed expert in this field, Anita has been invited to contribute articles to numerous peer-reviewed and referred journals, with many published publications and papers. She has also co-authored a textbook on dermatological cases in general practice.
