Bo, a four-year-old golden cocker spaniel, had been stung or bitten by something which had triggered a massive immune response. Her nose swelled up and her owner describes it, saying: “It was really horrendous. Bo was in a real state. She didn’t move – she lay on her beanbag and was just a very unhappy dog.”
Her vet treated Bo with antibiotics and said it would take a week to resolve. However, the swelling just got bigger and bigger and was oozing pus, even though Bo’s owner took the dog back to her vet several times.
Bo’s vet then referred her to Anita, who used the video app to examine the big eruption on the dog’s nose. Anita took lots of photographs of Bo from different angles. She then asked Bo’s own vet to take a sample of cells from Bo’s nose. She prescribed high doses of steroids and carried on with the antibiotics. It took Bo a good six to eight weeks to recover, but her owner says she is fine now.
